Susana has been in love with fashion and with lingerie in particular since she was a teenager. SL Privée is the result of her passion for luxury goods and fashion combined with a unique perspective on customer service – some would say that her Portuguese ways can be ‘a bit mad’ but we describe her as merely ‘different’. Susana says:

‘Lingerie is the first and most important item that I wear – it is the first thing I put on everyday and its effect is clear. It can be fun, cheeky, sassy or sexy – it goes with my mood, but essentially reflects how I feel. My favourite material is silk as no other material feel as luxurious against skin.
 
As the buyer for the shop, I look for collections that suit different shapes, sizes and moods through their materials and colours, and I also use our clients’ feedback to find unique pieces for special occasions. Women tend to be practical so that needs to be taken into account when we do our purchasing. The most important thing thing for me is always to find the right balance between ‘fashion’ and ‘fit’ to meet all our customers’ needs. Nothing gives me greater satisfaction than having a customer leave the shop with a renewed confidence and zest for life.’

Philippa has extensive experience in fashion having worked for some of the most reputable names in retail such as Burberry, Jaeger and Caroline Charles to name a few. Here is what she thinks about buying lingerie:

‘For me it is fascinating to experience how fashion trends are translated in the world of lingerie. At SL Privée, we spoil our clients with the diversity of our offer which brings enormous fun to the buying experience.

If asked to pick my favourite lingerie item I would select the bustier or guepiere – Susana knows that and keeps me well supplied! Once encouraged to try on a bustier, perhaps for the first time, our clients are often struck by feeling both glamorous and comfortable, whilst being amazed by its ability to enhance and transform the line under garments. Whether in the boudoir or in day-to-day wear, this is for me the ultimate piece a woman should own.’

Olivia has had a varied career including sales, office support and marketing roles across several businesses and sectors including retail in jewelry and luxury gifts. Olivia helped out on the opening night and has worked part-time in the shop during busy periods, ever since. She explains why:
